Transportation
The most common way to reach Akagera National Park is by private car or organized tour. The park is located approximately 2-3 hours from Kigali. From Kigali, take the road east towards Rwamagana. Continue past Rwamagana towards Kayonza. From Kayonza, follow the signs to Akagera National Park. The roads leading to the park are generally well-maintained, but a 4x4 vehicle is recommended, especially during the rainy season.
